All along the path of the upcoming solar eclipse - which cuts diagonally through the continental United States on August 21, 2017 - the sky will turn black as night and the stars will come out. This dramatic event can serve as a reminder that the evening light for many communities in the developing world comes from burning kerosene and candles which is unhealthy, dangerous, ineffective and expensive. We can help rural and impoverished communities come out of this darkness by funding projects that bring them affordable clean solar lamps. Please see AfricaLeap lending group for ideas.
